Principal's Message

Dear WCHS Families,
Please note that we have a long weekend, no school on Monday!
MAPs testing went well this week. We tried a different format to allow students to test with their content teachers.
Please note that Parent-Teacher conferences are around the corner in September. We will host in-person conferences on Monday, 22nd in the evening and then during the day on Tuesday, Sept 23.
Thank you, and have a terrific weekend, Mr. Ng

Culinary

WCHS culinary classes enjoyed lessons with Chef Steve from Escoffier this week. Escoffier is one of Colorado's leading culinary schools, located in Boulder.

Counseling

The Weld Central STEMblazers chapter kicked off the year with its first meeting, led by its new chapter leader, a project engineer from Brinkmann Constructors. The group is excited for another year of exploring STEM careers, building mentorships, and expanding their professional network.

STEMblazers is a female-driven, nonprofit organization focused on empowering young women in STEM fields.

Students interested in joining can contact Ms. Cook or Ms. Ferguson for more information.

Dean's Desk

Greetings WCHS Families,

Research consistently shows that students who participate in school activities—whether sports, clubs, or other programs—tend to have stronger academic outcomes, improved emotional regulation, and better overall mental health. In addition, coaches and activity supervisors provide another layer of adult support, helping students develop responsibility and make positive choices.

As we head into the holiday weekend, we encourage families to talk with their children about how they are (or could be) involved at WCHS. For more ideas on the benefits of student involvement, we’ve included a helpful resource here: 10 benefits of extracurricular activities for your kids

Thank you for continuing to partner with us in supporting student growth and success!

CO 52 project finishing work to continue in September

The Colorado Department of Transportation has completed all planned asphalt resurfacing on Colorado Highway 52. However, several work activities will resume after Labor Day and continue through at least September. Remaining items include setting roadside delineators, placing guardrail at several locations, and paving asphalt transition areas at county roads and driveways.

Work will take place intermittently during daylight hours, Monday through Friday. Drivers should expect delays and be prepared to stop for flaggers directing alternating single-lane traffic. No lane closures are planned from Aug. 29 at 12 p.m. to Sept. 2 at 7 a.m.

A reduced speed limit is in effect, along with a 10-foot width restriction for oversized vehicles.

Project completion is expected this fall.
