 Public School Funding:  Reach Out to Your Legislators

 

The Board of Education acted on a budget reduction plan at the March 26 regular meeting.  Over 100 stakeholders turned out to address the Board or listen to the discussion surrounding potential Transportation Fees and the proposed budget reductions. The Board voted not to impose Transportation Fees but did approve the reduction plan which had been discussed over the course of multiple open meetings.  This action was necessary to help overcome the nearly $1 million current year deficit and increasing expenditures expected for school year 2014-2015....SEE MORE...

MS. HUDDLESTON:
From the English Department: To all students who request to be registered for a college prep English course for the 2014-2015 school year, you must retrieve an application and entry essay assignment from the counseling office. These applications and essays are due at the end of the school day to the counseling office by Thursday, April 17th. Students who do not turn in the application will not be considered for the class. Thanks!

COACH JONES:
Anyone interested in trying out for the 2014-2015 Dance Team please see Coach Jones for a try out information packet. Try out clinics will be May 5th, 8th, 9th, and the 12th from 5:00-6:30 p.m. And try outs will be May 13th starting at 5:30 p.m.  There is important information in the packet that you will need for try outs!

COACH DUNAWAY:
ATTENTION all 8th-11th graders interested in being on the 2014-2015 Weld Central Cheerleading Team.  Cheerleading tryouts will be held the second week of April after we return from spring break!!   April 14th, 15th, 16th will be the clinics to learn the tryout material (Dance, Cheer, Jumps, Tumbling) and April 17th will be the tryout day. All clinics and tryouts will be held in the WCHS cafeteria from 3:30-5:00.  If you have a scheduling conflict due to another sport please see Ms. Dunaway as soon as possible. The WC Cheerleaders would like to encourage all interested students to come to tryouts and see what being a WC Cheerleader is all about!! “To be inspired is great, to inspire is incredible!” (4/17)

RELAY FOR LIFE:
Our Weld Central Community has been hit hard with cancer over the past couple of years. Show your support for the fight against cancer and sign up to participate in the Relay for Life held in June 2014. If you are interested, see Nancy in the front office.
 
MRS. AMEN:
SENIORS:  This year’s senior slide show will consist of a 15-second videotape segment of each senior answering a question about their high school experiences. We will still use one baby picture, but we will not need any music selections. Also, we are asking individuals to submit video clips of senior activities throughout the year that we can add to the show. We will begin taping soon. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sandra Amen in room 200c
COUNSELING - 
MRS. STEMO:
If you are interested in the fields of  welding, auto tech, auto body, med prep, carpentary, ag business, or  oil and gas and would like to take it while in high school, please see Mrs. Stemo or Mrs. Eurich ASAP.

MRS. WILLIAMS:
A Career Expo will be held Friday May 2nd this is for Any Junior or Senior that is interested in going into the Work Force.  The bus will leave here around 8:30 and return around 1:00 .  You will need to come to the counseling office to sign up.

Volunteer position opportunity with United Way of Weld County. This is an opportunity to teach and lead in programs and process that lead to social change through our local communities. Interested in applying? Contact Lyle Smith Graybeal at 970-353-4300 or lyle@unitedway-weld.org

Attention sophomores: are you interested in being the WCHS HOBY leadership representative and attend the 4 day leadership camp in June for free, if so, please pick up an application in the counseling office. At the camp students participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in the state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to lead others and make a positive impact in their community. If you have any questions or would like more info, please see Mrs. Williams in the counseling office.
